To me, these kinds of posts have an icky feel and remind me of the spam I get every day wanting me to click on some link. An honest, level pitch and discussion for what's being done and what's there would remove the ickiness and would serve the web site and advertisers far better than marketing tricks, as it has a better chance of building up support and return visitors.
