The slugs [aka thingies- thanks wouter!] can be picked up at any marine store.Mine are full plastic, brandname: "made in china" I think a paid €1 [$1,30] or so for them per one.

thake the whole rope out, replage by slugs, run a new line, done--your out sailing [actualy it took me two hours to get the old rope out...]
