Here is my suggestion for the UK travellers trophy this year

Nations Cup Mumbles 11th 12th May

Datchet open meeting 19th 20th May (this a hurricane meeting I think we could tag along)

Stokes Bay 8th 9th September

Grafham 21st 22nd October

We could add another 1 or 2, I would suggest an East Coast venus (not ECPR). and maybe one at Weymouth these could be in August or September.

I've now updated the calendar on the website to reflect this:

http://www.formula16.org/component/option,com_extcalendar/Itemid,28/extmode,cat/cat_id,2/lang,en/

As far as other events... Alan and Jan suggested that we could make the Round Sheppey race part of the TT, and that we may be able to run some races on the Sunday afterwards. This year the race is on September 1st, so it would mean having races on two weekends back-to-back.

Otherwise (or in addition) there's the Weston Cat Open a fortnight after Grafham (3rd/4th Nov).

Any takers?

Paul

Well, I know a few Stealth's did it last year, but I don't think it was the rudders that were the problem... It sounded like quite an adventure.

I think Aaron did it a couple of years ago with kickup rudders and said it was "interesting" but that he'd not do it again !

How about adding the ECPR ? (but as discussed before, some like the short course and some the long).

I did it in '85 and '86 on a Catapult. The tide was low one of the years and we had to be careful crossing the sands before turning into the river and the stretch of river up to the bridge was very narrow. It looked like a wide strip of water, but in some areas the channel was only a few boat lengths wide. Maybe they time it these days so that the tide is high during that part of the race. It was great fun.

I've done the last 3 Sheppey races and said that after every one of them.
It's a great race and I reckon fixed rudders is not a problem as long as you study the course map and make a note of the shallow points. Cats start last and end up sailing in the highest water. Basically if you sail the middle of the river theres no problem. The bridge is where most damage occurs so I would recommend a shore crew to help you through.

Please stop making new Stealths and posting pics of them. It hurts too much.
