It is getting to that time of year again where we start to pull the boats out, clean them up and get ready for the upcoming season. With that, I would like to post an NOR for four possibly five beachcat ocean distance events taking place of the Ventura coast this summer. For those that participated in these races last year, I believe that the atmosphere provided for some great times had by all and both clubs did an outstanding job for the events.

That said here is the listing of what we have coming up:

Ventura Sailing Club www.venturasilingclub.org
June 30, 2007 – Frenchy’s Rum Run – Mandalay Buoy to Frenchy’s Cove, back to Ventura Harbor - can you say Screaming Beam Reach

Pierpont Bay Yacht Club – Land Rover Island Series:
May 19, 2007 - Hardway Race – Beach Launch from Santa Barbara down the coast to Ventura Harbor – you got a spinnaker this is a great race for you.

July 14, 2007 – Milt Ingram Trophy Race – this is the longest standing beach cat distance race on the West Coast. Out of Ventura, around Anacapa to port back to Ventura Harbor.

August 25, 2007 – Tri-Point Race – this race course is designed for beach cats leaving Ventura Harbor, around Anacapa Island to Starboard, back top Ventura Harbor.

Few admin details regarding the Land Rover Series: The PBYC will be providing a chase boat for the beachcats for all three races, and to facilitate this they will need no less than five pre-registrants for the entire series. The NOR and entry forms will be posted on their site www.pbyc.org shortly, as I to will notify once this is available.
Entry will be limited to boats 18’ or longer with a crew of no less than 2

And for the fifth event, there was a RUMOR floating around the Blue Water Regatta MIGHT be open to all beachcats. I am trying to get a confirmation on this, and will post it once this has been verified.

Hope to see you all up here this summer.
