Were doing the final preperations for the Tybee 500, and one of the last projects on our to do list is mounting a midpole snuffer to the boat (Nacra 20). Can anyone give me a diagram showing how to run the halyard/tacklines on the boat? I would prefer this setup to work off one line rather than having a seperate tack line and halyard line to fiddle with on the boat. I already did a search on this forum but didn't come up with what I was looking for. Oh, I also need to know the length of the line/lines for this setup. Thanks ahead of time for the advice.

Alec

I'd really reconsider the one-line system for distance racing.

Keeping the tack line separate (and preferable on a 2:1 system) can really help when trying to spin reach.

cracking a couple inches off the tack can let you head up and make it around the end of that jetty without having to take the kite down.

It seems that people are generally moving away from the single line system, right? Seems like during the Tybee you set the spin for a long time so you don't have to deal with the extra line all that often.

Alec..

You really have to upsize the cleat for a one line system. The spinloads resolve to that one cleat. I wound up going to the largest Harken cleat and then wound up with double cleats in series. In the end... I found the seperate tack and halyard with double midsize cleats on the halyard were the best solution. Another thing that can happen is that the cover and core of your halyard seperate at the cleat point and then the cover fails and you can't keep the chute up. (been there... done that as well)

IMO, I would not reinvent the wheel here.
