Would there be a market for State and National Titles?

How much would a prospective hirer be prepared to pay? It costs around $800 to lease a Laser for a big event, sail and foils supplied by competitor.

How much for a club race?

There would be some insurance issues to sort out and a legal contract to be developed.

What other issues would need to be overcome?

Fleet owner.

Darryn,

I don't think we are in the same league as the Lasers where they are potentially vying for positions in olympic teams etc. and every yacht is pretty much identical.

You could go out and buy some new foils for that sort of money. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

It's probably too much of a hastle to do the paperwork.

Thoughts from anyone else ???

Regards,

Peter

I tend to agree - the mozzie isn't a strict one design in the same sense that the Laser is. It would appear that we have several moulds from, I am assuming, different designers, with, it would seem from reading various posts whithin this forum, their own followers.

The advantage here, of course, is the potential for competition between the manufacturers to help keep costs down for the end user. But of course, this could have been done if the one master mould was reproduced several times, and leased/loaned out to interested boat builders.

Of course, thee is nothing to stop individuals leasing/loaning/giving their own boats out to interested persons for any event.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Darryn,

could be of interest for guy's like me that don't own a Mossie.

But I would want your best boat <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> and couldn't pay much <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />.

Seriously though, a small fee $100? for a competitive boat could be a option. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Good thinking Gary,

If Darryn bought 6 or 7 new boats he could take them to the venue of few us could pay him $100 to hire each boat and he would have a good fleet to compete against <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
