I would like to invite everyone to come to the Shreveport Yacht Clubs annual Super Derby Reggatta. It is Oct 26-27 in Shreveport, LA. The first day is a round the bouy setup with the boats divided into fleets as normal. 5 or more of one kind makes a fleet, all others to race portsmouth multihull.
On Saturday night there is an auction to buy the winning boat of the long distance all in one group race. All proceeds are given to the Louisiana Kidney Foundation so is for a great cause. Then we all race in a big happy portsmouth family (monos and multis alike) and the onwers of the top three or four boats (not sure exactly) win some really nice prizes. Top prize has been stuff like 2 round trip airline tickets anywhere in the USA, 4 new tires for your vehical and stuff like that.
Sometimes the air is light and sometimes it is blowing like stink here so always can be intresting.
For those of you who do not know our lake is bigger than most think, about 6 miles by 2 miles. We have had everything here from hobie 16s to a brand new Inter 20 (come and we will tell you a wonderful story about it) and Hobie 20 with spin. No one that has been here to race ever felt the lake was to small for even the high powered beach cats.
There is plenty of area to camp around the club and an area of grass just for the cats.
This is always a fun event no matter what the wind. So come and enjoy a great weekend in Shreveport. Sail, laugh, eat, drink and gamble if you want.
