This post comes from Mimi Appel. I forgot how to log on as myself so I got a fellow Fleet member to post for me.
Hey fellow Wave racers. When we were in Islamorada I talked with a bunch of you guys and gales about Fleet 204’s Madcatter regatta. I’d like to re-invite you all and any other Hobies that have never experienced a Madcatter. There are few regattas quite like it. The weather is ALWAYS a big deal; in the 31 years it has never been the same way twice. We’ve had 80 and sunny to 40 with snow. Activities start as early as May 17, Thursday night for the race from our home base to regatta site Oneida Shores Park, Brewerton, NY. From there is onto Borieos Restaurant for Perch sandwiches and the start of the massive amounts of adult beverages. May 18, Friday morning is the annual ice hockey game that you can strap on the blades and try to beat the likes of Ollie, Kelly, Tom Korz and others. Than on to the Guest Expert Panel discussion. That afternoon Tom runs the distance race. Friday night welcome party continues the deluge of adult beverages it is a catered theme party with Fleet members serving funky appetizers on silver platters. Saturday there is actually racing; we’ve averaged about 80-90 boats lately. It would be super to have a bunch of Waves to race against! We have never had a Wave class before and I’m think’ in that my cup holders will fit right in to the whole Madcatter thing! Saturday night’s rum squall is the highlight of many sailors year; the activities that take place are for immature adults only and shall not be discussed on this forum. Sunday is more racing, than a huge lunch and trophy ceremony. Some sailors head home, while some diehards attend the Sunday night wrap up party.
