Does anyone know where i can find LYS number for F16 boats? I saw that a A-cat had 1,78, does anyone know the LYS for a Stealth F16?

I think you will get far with the A-class LYS number in one-up mode and the F-18 number (1.67) in two up mode.

But, the only way to get a LYS number is to approach the LYS committee in segelforbundet, or perhaps better, the multihull LYS committee at: http://www.multihulls.org/lys2007.html
Expect the number to be quite hight to begin with, as they prefer to err on the high side.

Hi,

Maybe someone should acquire a official lys number, preferrably same number for 2-up and 1-up. At least I'll need it for next year if I plan to participate to a wooden boat race here in Finland. Best thing would be that we would at lys table.

Btw, sadly this year the Zandwoort event is at the same time than Viaporin Tuoppi which is biggest wooden boat race here, mostly monos like meter classes or folkboat, but occasionally there has been wooden Tornado on the line.

I don't know if it's any use but I've just uploaded the 2007 LYS numbers to the Sailwave website.

Another happy F16 sailer in Sweden! After lurking this forum and having sailed other "beach cats" I decided to step up & give it a try. Test sail this weekend: Amazingly easy to handle, very agile yet stable (Stealth F16 2004). Now need to practise more sailing one-up with gennaker! For the Swedish (Scandinavian?) guys: I have applied for LYS rating according to the F16 box rules but that will not be published until next spring.

It seems that Swedish LYS tables has now numbers for F16. The 1up number is 1.76 and 2up number is 1.69. In LYS most common use is to multiply sailing time with LYS number, so this means that 1up must win almost two and a half minutes in a hour. As a comparison F18 number is 1.69 and A-cat is 1.78.

Whoa! The uni rating is as fast as a classic rig Tornado sailed by an olympic crew! Wonder if they bought the "uni as fast as an A, crewd as fast as a F18" statement?

No because A-cat has 1.78 <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />.

Texel has it pretty much the same way.

Tornado classic = 100
F16 1-up = 101
F16 2-up = 102

of course that F16 must be sailed by an olympic crew as well !

The difference is that the LYS system is not a pure measuring system with secret formulas (no kidding). They also mix statistics into it, so the crew factor can be even more important in LYS. It's no worry for us, we almost never go to LYS events with other multis, but it is a flattering number. I expect the numbers to drop as the results database grows?
The numbers being so similar suggests the LYS committee did not ponder the issues much, they just used the A cat and F18 numbers <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
