Hi all,
The 9th annual Whitebread Race, (typically 100+ boats) will be held on Saturday, October 5th. This is a 33+ mile race around Shelter Island starting and ending in New Suffolk. In the past, beach catamarans were allowed to enter and race. However, in the last few years, this has not been the case.
Well, after much effort, they are back in. How did that happen? I volunteered for the worst job of all - Principal Race Officer (PRO). I won't be able to race my cat, but I hope others do.
The price tag is a little high ($65, due by 9/30 - get application on-line at
http://www.pbsa.net/WBmain.html), but the party Friday and Saturday make it worth it, not to mention the chance to race in a giant, colorful regatta.
I hope cat sailors take advantage of this opportunity to race in this mega-event on Eastern Long Island.
