For 2008...

Adventure Online TV will be traveling the entire week for next years Tybee 500 and plan on having a full crew with us.

In addition, we will be working through the year with each group of sailors to create a online team video.

The Tybee 500 preregistration page has been cleared (www.Tybee500.com) and is ready for 08. We will be working on team videos in the order that teams sign up, and encourage all to get on the list!

Feel free to contact me at info@adventureonline.tv to discuss the team videos.

Thanks,
Brian

Anybody my age, 60ish, want to try this? If we actually finished, it would probably be some sort of record.

No record for you, sorry. Kirk set that about 10 or 15 years ago. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hoping to race the Tybee in 08. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the info and vid. offer .

Beyond capt. Kirk a team over 60 did the 1000 mile version some years ago. The 1000 mile version is actually 4 times as hard ,--{if you've done it and the Tybee 500 a few you'll agree}.

Great racing Jake -congrates again .

Not to be controversial or anything but it seems the US needs to step up its racing programs . The H team smoked everyone in this years 500 !

Congrates to Holland team .

We obviously need more competative races ,teams ,and boat classes.

I don't think the P rating serves us well in this regard either or encourages competative class racing and why some have always been critical of its basic premise of averaging times to a handicap as opposed to a design rating system EU uses.

I'd also like to see an open 20 class race in next years Tybee . There are better 20 ft cats for this type of ocean racing out there .

happy sailing

fire away in responce if you like --{used to it} . <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

RE Portsmouth....
Should we replay our dialog of a few years ago....
Nah....... Good luck with your 08 campaign... <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I would note that the F18's... don't seem to want to distance race and they have the largest spin fleet in the US

It is true that on the international scene.... with rare exception.(A class and Tornado) we seem to be getting crushed.

There are F18 racers that want to distance race. We just haven't reached "critical mass" of entries in a distance race such as the Tybee to make competition attractive to most of these interested parties.

It would probably encourage more F18s to register if they would set up a separate Class for them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there only ONE class for the Tybee. The F18s would definitely be at a disadvantage to the I20s. However, my hat goes off to Chris and Team TCDYC for staying with the F18. Mischa is a great F18 sailor and probably would have done the Tybee on a F18 if there were a separate class. Separate Class for F18s = More F18s.

There was a separate class for F18s if they could get four boats on the line. Distance racing on F18s is commonplace in Europe.

As Jake mentioned, the only thing holding back the F18 class is sailors deciding to make the jump.

Krantz was willing if 3-4 others showed up. Now that the first F18 to finish is still up in the air, maybe next year.

Personally, Id rather see the race be made all F18, but it also makes sense to let the classes evolve naturally.

Todd, not sure which half of the sentence your saying why to? The F18 part or the evolving part?

It would get away from a single builder, and would allow the posibility of home builds.

Hmmmm...never thought of that. You could build a purpose built offshore racing F18 for the race. It just needs to measure in.

Hey Brian,
The only F-18 part, I'm all for evolution, not going backwards.Nothing against F-18s, if folks wanted to race them in the Tybee they could of.I say keep it open to both.
