Hello,

I'm new to cats (and sailing). I want to buy a Wave, it will be used primarily for recreational use, but I'd also like to race once I get some time under my belt.

My dilemma is: Should I purchase the standard or club model. I understand the club's tramp is more desirable, but I don't know if there are any other drawbacks to the club's design (not easy to investigate as my local dealer is over 90 miles away via So Cal Freeways O.C. to San Diego).

As for racing, I hope to find something in my area (Alamitos Bay/Long Beach, CA) weather it be the Hobie Class Association or International Wave Class Association.

Anyway, I look forward to any and all advice as I am a complete beginner.

Regards,
Ken

Go Club Wave unless you want to dis-assemble the boat for transport or storage. Those are the high points of the Classic Wave. It is all about the Trampoline configuration. Other than that, the Club is the same and the tramp is tighter.
