Do you Mean Pacific cat or Prindle- I have sailed Pacific in the 70's and a little Prindle since '04.

Pacific is a 60's version with fiberglass "unibody" that includes both hulls and the seating in between. Huge Aluminum daggerboards, no trampoline. Prindles were made after the hobie 16 came out so they have a trampoline- 20 years newer design.

Then answer me this weary traveler ? What....is.... the ....standard......velocity ...... of......a P-18 versus a PacificCat with 328lb crew in 15knots of wind and a 3ft chop on a beam reach in August??? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> (I knew that. we are however waiting as to what boat the poster is interested in)....................

Yes it has 267.5 square feet of sail and if you get any power out of that it will go fine. Spent many hours sailing while in high school- We wet sailed ours and is was good and watertight just had to pump out water if it rained -leak topside somewhere we never found- we sailed it for 5 years and never changed a thing- never broke anything- my brother took it out and capsized it and lost the crank for the main- but that was easily replaced. Then one day we saw another cat- a brand new Hobie 16 and is sailed rings around us. We did have to finish the wooden roller reffing piece on the jib and the rudder handles annually.
