With over two months left until the registration deadline, it already looks like there will be a profusion of Infusions at the F18 Nationals in Texas - a veritable Nacracopia, if you will. Still, I think there will be fair and balanced representation from the Tigers, Capricorns and Nacra F18s as well.

I just heard a rumour about the new Hobie F18 in development - scuttlebutt has it that this new design is called the Hobie Dunno, as in "What was that?!, "uhhh, I dunno, but it looks fast!"

John:
Is this a joke or real? I know there has been talk but I thought it was just talk from wishers.

Looking forward to having you on the West Coast for some sailing. We keep getting more sailors on the Formula 18 circuit in Southern CA. I know you will be a great addition. Now we need to make sure that Northern CA does not die on the vine. We have some really good sailors from there that make the trek for some of our regattas.

Later,
Dan

Hi Rolf - yep. I remember the bet. Word is there is a prototype already on the water, but as some of my Florida buddies often say, if there aren't pictures, it didn't happen.

How 'bout it all you Euros? Anyone have photos of the as-yet-unnamed Hobie F18? Wouter? You always seem to be on the bleeding edge... whazzup?

Hobie Europe will be up a creak when the Hobie Dunno isn't invited to race with the Hobie Tigers One Design.

Jeez, Zealot. Why take that tack? Are you in North America? If so, then you already know there was no Tiger one-design nationals last year... and I don't think there's one scheduled this year, either. Tiger sailors are either on 16s getting ready for Fiji, or are headed to Texas for F18s. And, honestly, I don't think any of the Hobie sanctioned events (or the fleets and YCs that host them) would turn a Hobie away, do you? Are you going to snipe at someone flying the Hobie "H" now?

LOL, do you think they care ?

If Hobie EU are working on a new boat, I assume we all agree that it will be faster. Thus, those with the dosh will sell their Tigers(and other F18's) and buy one, I would think the last thing on Hobie EU's mind is the closed events in the states.

I got nothing. Hadn't even heard they were working on a new F18 either.

I guess I'm out of the loop on this one or it is just a rumour.

John:

Are you coming for the Nationals. I will be working it and taking pics as we are the host fleet. Like to meet face to face.

Thanks for getting us back on-topic, Doug. Yep - I'll be there. I'm watching the event web site for news of the decision from the City on the RV issue.

See you there.

Yea they are working hard on it. Galveston is behind us so I think when they have there meeting it will get passed. This is shaping up to be a great event. I am on the planning committee, BUT on the road working a lot. NDT inspector trainee. BUT I will be there the whole week, so maybe we can throw back a brew.

That rumor has been doing the rounds for years. I suppose if you wait long enough Hobie will bring out a boat to supersede the Tiger just like after 20 or so years they did for the 18.
