Mike Dobbs posted a link to what looks like some excellent free software on the open forum. With this software it is possible to use your GPS log and easily compare it with the performance of "the best of the best", if we can get those, (whoever that might be ) to carry a GPS for a run around the course. The end result is that you will know wether you are off the pace on speed, tacking angles etc. before you turn up at an event. This could be a great tool for race training if we can just get those baselines.
Any possibilites of taping a GPS to some of the top boats at Zandvoort?

I've asked our residential GPS and IT specialist to take a look at this.

It should not be a problem to carry GPS units at the Global Challenge. Several of us have one.

You should also look at visualising your gps data in google earth. Very good for seeing how the wind swings through a race and how it bends due to land effects.

Nick,

you mean like this (oh how I love those 1000meter high mountains)

It looks to me like the actionreplay software do an even better job of it, especially if you can get the tracking from your competitiors GPS.

Wouter,

it would be very interesting to see some tracks from Zandvoort if you manage.

We are working on it. Mainly Geert is working on it, I discussed it yesterday with him and he feels that there is a good potential for making it work.

Still got some stuff to work-out before it is final however.
