I think I may have jinxed us at the Round The Island Race. I was hoping for something less than 15-20k wind. One must be careful of one's wishes.

That dumb NOAA forecast was still for 10-15k NW as we were going out to the start line (under 2-4k NW).

While singlehanding I got a lot of practice in sleep deprivation.

Dean - I feel so bad for talking you into going and even worse that you had to sail back throught the gulf at night. At least you proved that it could be done.

Are you coming up for the Lake Sante Fe Regatta Oct 26 which will be Palakta? Go to http://fastsail.com/Fleet153/index.html for the NOR and registration form.

Steve.

Who knew that the NOAA wind forecast would be so far off? Please don't feel bad about talking me up there. It was THE BEST and the most grueling sailing experience I have ever had. I will be always grateful that you partners-in-crime gave me that push to make it up there. I only wish that we had a little more ooomph so that I could have been up there on the list.

I was dog tired by the time I hit the point at Ft. Pickens. Then, I sailed for another twelve hours! I was personally proud of my endurance and seamanship I used during the night to get back with all fingers and toes and little boat intact. I think the cats can move if the frogs are breathing on shore but the Rave is just a slug bucket in 4 to 6 to 0 knots wind.

I'll have to write about my experience during that night.

When I arrived back at my mother-in-law's house I slept for seventeen hours.

Dean,

Sorry we didn't get a chance to say goodbye before we left...but I think you were sleeping. You are to be commended for just finishing. There were some cats and a least two tri's (and they have cooking and sleeping accomodations!) that dropped out. You perservered and you da' man! I hope to see you at next years event Rave or no Rave.
