I invested over a K in top line sailing gear for my partner thinking the shiney new kit would make her like sailing. No rough weather story here...she litterally had cold feet and dosen't like cold feet. Most was used only once and the rest not at all and now, two years later, it is on our equvilent of ebay.

Yep, wondering what to do with a nice new harness and jacket. She used to rock climb too!!! Which is potentially more dangerous?
I guess I am not in charge when she climbs though <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I was going to try to get her to drive some but of course that is a moot point now.

Or how about the time I put the rudders on my TheMightyHobie18 on backwards - had so much helm, I couldn't get the thing to tack. We finally got it headed back to the beach but just as we entered the surf, my brother and I realized the rudders were so loaded up that the cams wouldn't release (old-style TheMightyHobie18 cams too). I tried to abort the landing in between waves but it was too late...a wave caught us sideways and slid us in towards the beach snapping both rudders off.

My wife story goes like this;
'B' class Quest, [20ftx10ft glass/ply hulls, Tornado rig]. Storm due but she insists I take her and her girlfriend out for a 'quick' spin. Storm hits mid lake, neither girls can sail at all, get driven onto a sand bank with boards down, boat is self distrusting under me and there's jack I can do about it till it violently jibes and virtually sails itself off the bar and I manage to sail home without further incident, unless the screaming and crying counts here.

And I don't normally scream and cry when I'm sailing. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Woaw, I've got one each of the above. After six weeks on the slipway I am bringing a shared cabin cat back to the mooring 20 ks away. I have had new gudgeons made to push the rudders further under for less weather helm. I have assured the partner in the boat I know what I am doing. On the way back it is 20 knots and the weather helm is biblical. Big bottom lips and sad faces! The partner went all silent and broody. later I find the partner had put the rudder blades in backwards.....like wrestling a bull for four hours.

As an 18 year old I take my gorgeous girlfriend (really) out on my old style mono....nasty wind and short chop mean I have to have her weight in a particular part of the boat or cannot control it.....she will not stay there as she is scared of the boat turning over.....we are going to lose it and drift off shore.
I go as close as I can get to shore and..................push her over the side and tell her to swim!

A gorgeous girlfriend is just a gorgeous girlfriend but a boat is a boat.

This is all truth. ....when I get in she was waiting for me to make up in the shower on a cold day. I could not believe my luck.

Do you guys find that women get less accepting as they get older???
