I'm about to move to Richmond Virginia and was wondering if there was any mast up storage in the area. I here most of the catsailing happens in Va. Beach. Any ideas?

Thanks

The other option would be in Galesville, MD, but that's probably a little too far for you.

The drive to Virginia Beach would not be something I'd want to do other than for races or to trailer the boat out there for the weekend. You might try grsa.org if you just want local sailing and storage.

OK, in Richmond-metro, there is the Greater Richmond Sailing Association on a reservoir just west of town. I've been by it, but never sailed out of there. www.grsa.org

There is also Dog Town Yatch CLub. No mast up storage, as they are a travelling bunch, but a lot of fun. www.dtyc.org

Down in Va Beach, try the local Hobie Fleet. They will be able to fill you in on local regs for the beaches. Used to be able to buy a sticker to park a cat on the oceanfront, but I'm not sure about non-locals. The Bay can get a little more confusing as a lot of the beach on the Va Beach part of the bay is actually private, athough it looks like it's public. www.hobiefleet32.org

Additionally, the local Hobie Fleet is setting up for a 2 day sailing event on Labor Day weekend. Initial rumors point to going around the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel both days, one day clock-wise, the other counter clock-wise.

I can stall the sails with the best of 'em!
