I will be trailering my Wave to a resort on Sanibel Island at the end of July. Can anyone recommend any particular good spots to sail to, in and around Sanibel and Captiva? I will be on the south side of the island but on the map the north side looks like it might be more interesting with all the inlets.

What are wind conditions like normally this time of the year? I'm a little concerned that it might be real calm.

Zojoe:

I used to live on Sanibel, but didn't sail then, so I can't recommend particular spots. Probably has much to do with where you can launch; from there, it all ought to be pretty good.

Prevailing wind in summer is from the southeast until the land heats up and the westerly sea breeze kicks in. The early winds are generally very light; the sea breeze can be 10-15.
