New transatlantic record: 4 days 3 hours.

Can't believe that nobody on this forum has picked up this info.

And on that second day of the 100 hour trip, they broke the port foil forcing them to "slow down" and only average 32.7 knots! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

I have not seen this boat up close, but am I to understand it only has one rudder on the central hull? Why not put rudders on the outside amas?

Would this not be more effective when flying the windward and central hulls?

Would this not also increase the safety and control?

I read somewhere that the big tris use ama's rudders mostly when racing inshore and fully crewed. Offshore or short handed they try to keep the mainhull in the water. The same goes for big cats: offshore they keep both hulls in the water.

I Took this picture in Newport where the boat was for months before setting off on this record setting transat run. Looks like to me there is a rudder on the back of the outside hull.

had a few pals that raced the oryx quest (and finished) they flew the hull as much as they could.
