A friend of my already told me most of what will be involved in adding a spinnaker to the 5.2. But I would love to get some more advice. If anyone has a list of steps that they use to add spins to no spin boats. OR if someone else has done this and ran into problems I would love to hear about them.

Thanks

I'm still working on it myself, on a 5.2. I've got the pole, the second hand spi is in the hand of the sail maker for adding patches, and I hope to be able to get my snuffer (from a stealth 16) ordered soon.

It's going slowly, but I'll get there...

(Today was sunny, 9knts of wind with gusts to 15, I took my 13yo daughter and a girlfriend of hers on board, they had a blast double trapezing and screaming in the gusts...)

read that. Your sail maker will need to know the distance between each of the points:

halyard block
sheet block
tack block

Also, ironing out the details is much more time consuming than you think. If it has been done before, in my opinion, it is worth any extra money to just use the same sail maker and copy the setup of the persons who already did it.

I have been through the whole process of putting a custom spin on a boat and would be happy to help you with any specific questions you might have.

Matt

Go to http://1design.net/ and look for "Frankenboat".

Or just ask any on those guys.
