I remember about 5 years ago it made sense to do the opposite as long as the parts weren't too large.

gree- I thinking he's talking about the dollar slipping as a global currency. That's not good for us.

That's why I got in when I did. our dollar has doubled in the last five years against the US. Getting a big LCD tomorrow.
Our currency has gone up against US because our housing market is WAY overcooked and the reserve bank keeps lifting interest rates. So the Japanese can borrow money there at a half a percent and invest it here at 8%
We will crash sometime......time to buy the US for us I think.

over in US? yes we have heard that and the sensible of us also know your housing market has been wobbly for some time and have been clear it will happen here.. But we have a gambling attitude to our housing here and like all bull markets it is really over the top.
The mortgagee sales are just starting here. Sadly I am old enough to know what happens next. The US economy is so huge internally that it has way more reserves than us.
We have an extra problem here in that some think we shoud just keep bringing in immigrants to keep the figures rising......

I told my freinds to do it now. I have bought a 42 inch LCD and will get a car next week before it all kicks in to prices.
I told a mate who sold her house a few weeks ago to rent, buy American dollars and then when we are down to 58 cents gold if the US thing is still happening.
She mortgagued herself to the hilt instead.....DOH! She would have made $130,000 in the last three weeks if she had just bought the US.
