Posts: 902 Norman,OK | Well, I just went out to work on my 5.2 and noticed that a few shackles and stuff are gone. Also the cap to my sail tube was off but it was empty because everything else is in the garage. Nothing really valuable stolen just a few shackles and a pin.
Just watch out guys, this happened in Norman, OK, so if you are in the area and hear anything odd by your boat check it out. Most likely it was kids but it might be more serious.
Once you go cat you never go back!

Posts: 145 Cheshire, UK | We had some thefts from boats at our club last year. It caused some hassle, but we ultimately got our gear back and the thief was successfully prosecuted. Although the loss of a few shackles isn't the end of the world, if bigger items are taken, don't give up: We lost a trampoline from a Hurricane 5.9, a mainsheet block (left for just the one night!), and jib blocks from a Nacra 6.0, as well as other sundry items. If this happens to you, look back at recent sales of relevant boats on eBay, etc. We found a likely candidate, traced the name and general location of the buyer, and confirmed this with the eBay vendor. The electoral role gave us some addresses to check out, and long story short we found the boat, complete with stolen parts. The police were very interested (and had unofficially provided another address we might want to drive by in our search for the boat, based on the evidence above). Hopefully the word has gone out that it's not worth stealing specialist equipment from a close-knit community.

Posts: 1,152 tampa, fl | A couple of months ago, I had my mainsheet and blocks, rudders and tillers, spin pole hoop, roller fullering drum, and forestay ajuster were stolen off my I-20. This was all stolen from behind a locked gate at a private yacht club (lots of other boats of all types around, yet mine was the only one hit). I have scoured e-bay and the various sailing website classifieds looking for it. Thankfully insurance covered all of it. I did file a police report, but, as I expected, they were no help at all. In fact, about 2 months after the theft, I received an e-mail from the police dept stating that the case was being closed because I never responded to the officer who claimed that he had tried repeatedly to contact me regarding the theft. That was pure BS!!!!!
You'd think as small of a community as we are and as specific as the parts are, they'd turn up pretty quick after being stolen. Unfortunately that is often not the case.
Now nothing stays on the boat. I went out and bought a trailer box and everything gets locked up.
If your havin girl problems i feel bad for you son I got 99 problems but my beautiful wife ain't one | | |
