Posts: 44 | Can anybody tell me what happened to the sl at the French Youth Championships? They did 2 less races than the Hobie 16 with spinnaker and there were a lot of DNF in race 1. http://www.ffvoile.net/ffv/sportif/CalendrierFiche.asp?id=33283 Is the sl still going to be the US youth boat now that performance has been sold? | | | Re: SL 16 question

It looks to me that there were a pretty high number of DNFs for race 1 in both classes - 12/31 for H16 and 7/15 for SL16. And there was only one less race for the SL. | | | Re: SL 16 question

Posts: 12,310 South Carolina | new2sailin2 - first, I don't think you are really that new to sailing, and second, you clearly have an agenda against the SL16 (or rather a very Hobie-centric outlook). Please stop waisting our time with loaded questions and get to the point.

We must not overlook the fact that most French Youths are still sailing the SL15.5, 46 teams in the mentioned regatta. This Sl15.5 is the same basic platform as the SL16 and can be upgraded to being an SL16 by replacing the rig. Also the SL15.5 class appears to be devided into mixed and all female classes. In effect the total SL15.5/SL16 fleet was 31 + 15 + 14 = 60 boats. No adults sail the SL15.5 or SL16, these are all youth sailors and for France alone (pop. 80 million)

1. I am new compared to an “expert” such as yourself
2. The questions are legitimate questions no hidden agenda.
3. I don’t even own a Hobie Don't know that I'm an expert - but OK, I apologize...it seems that even though the H16 had a comparable number of DNFs, you were trying to make a negative statement about the SL16 and performance catamarans...a trend in your posts.
