Our local dealer is now offering a special deal on slightly used Hobie 14 Power catamarans. Apart from a new type of mainsail, they seem to have the FX1-type of boom and mast. As an old H16 hand and relaxed Wave sailor, I would like to test something more exciting (and less costly than an A-cat) -- Therefore I wonder, has anybody out there in the Catsailor cyberworld tested these little French beasts yet?

More exciting then a Wave and cheaper then an A-cat. Humm, that would enclose almost all other catamaran designs out there. I say you have a WIDE choice here !

Is it just me, or is that the Hobie 14 (that Hobie announced they were deleting from their range) with a new rig?
What's going on? is Hobie becoming a Complete French company?

The reason H-14's have come back in the US is because they are cheap, not because of HCE's attempts to meddle with the design.

It's a new sail, a new boom and a new mast base (same old mast). By the time you're done, the "upgrades" will have cost more than the boat.

Long live the classic 14!

as a proud father, my 8 year old son just bought an older 14 and has sailed it solo 4-5 times without incident. His time on the Opti has helped him, and he will continue to race the Opti, but he sure loves going fast!
btw I need a 14 tramp, cheap, used...

Isn't that illegal? You have to at least wait for 18.

Bill Hendrix is making trampolines for the 16 at a great value - I'm sure he could figure you one out for the 14.
