So, my tiller extension broke on Monday (honest, I wasn't even touching it when it happened...). As the end that wasn't attached to the boat is now heading down the Forth towards the North Sea (if it arrives in Holland, whoever finds it can keep it...) I'm not sure how long the thing was so I can get a suitable replacement. Somewhere between 2 and 2.5 metres I guess - could someone let me know how long theirs is (so to speak). Thanks!

George,

Mine are locked in the trailer box at the moment, if no one else has one handy, I'll measure it in Sunday

100-150mm longer than your boom should be OK depending on how tall you are or you have have short arms. I hear short arms are quite common in Scotland as they don't like digging deep into their pockets. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Why would we want to dig deep into our pockets when there are millions of people out there who're desperate to buy us beer....

By luck I bumped into an MPS sailor as I was heading for the chandlery to see what they had in stock. Without knowing I needed a new bit of stick, he mentioned that he'd bought a bulk supply (10!) of blank carbon tubes when he bought the skiff last year and has only broken 3 or 4 of them since! So just need to trim the end (the damn things are huge) and fit a flexijoint and I'm sorted for a lot less than the £80 a Holt stick would cost. So I can even afford to buy myself beer if I have to now...
