I guess that's really my personal gripe. Let's have a real discussion. Don't just tell me (and the rest of the population), "Science has decided." Really? I didn't know it was being talked about and suddenly as quick as the debate has begun, it's over?
A huge problem with the "science" behind the "models" is that they don't even take water vapor into consideration b/c "it's not influenced by human actions". Making the models incomplete and over stating the role of CO2.
Additionally the IPCC was formed with it's sole function to prove global warming and to help a political cause in Britain. (During the coal miners strike of the 70's to give the government another "Pro" towards Nuke plants). Not to mention all of the breeches in science/research ethics. Think about the whole economy surrounding this issue. People are making a LOT of money on it. They HAVE to justify their jobs.
I'm not interested in some emotional argument anymore. Just science and facts. Most people argue and believe the way they do b/c so and so said so. I know most people are not engineers/scientifically minded, but at least educate yourself a little and make the decision that way. Don't be a sheep lead to the slaughter.
Watch "an inconvenient truth" watch "the great global warming swindle" and then decide. Both movies are done to persuade you towards their thinking, but... if you watch them both... and then decide, you made up your own mind. I have watched them both. Their was not much data in Al's movie and I felt as if he was very condescending. I had done my research prior to watching the GW swindle movie and it only solidified my feelings. Sadly though, much of the anti-GW information out there has as much propaganda in it as does the pro-GW stuff. Only problem is that the anti material gets a bad wrap b/c of it. Read the numbers do some study, decide for yourself.

However, I do have matches, toothpicks, chewing gum, paperclips, rubber bands, shoelaces and scotch tape.
Maybe things aren’t so bad after all.

You’ll climb the vines that wrap the Sears tower, and when you look down you’ll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison in the empty carpool lane of some abandoned super highway.
Tyler Durden Hey, I get it! In mid stalk, while wearing leather pants that smell like you've been wearing them all your life, you are suddenly seized by the agonizing pain of an abcessed tooth. You manage to crawl back to your vermin infested cave, where, days later, you die screaming in agony as the infection works its way from your jaw into your brain! Posts: 902 Norman,OK | Man, I thought Oklahoma was sinking too, I swear it would not stop raining here. We had 26 days in a row which we had rain. We have already had more rain this year than all of last year.
All the ramps at the lakes were closed, which was nice for me because I never had to deal with power boats where I set up my boat.

Posts: 195 White Bear Lake, MN | I read this today and afterwards couldn't stop thinking of Al Gore...
It started out innocently enough. I began to think at parties now and then -- just to loosen up. Inevitably, though, one thought led to another, and soon I was more than just a "social thinker" I began to think alone -- "to relax," I told myself -- but I knew it wasn't true. Thinking became more and more important to me, and finally I was thinking all the time. That was when things began to sour at home.
One evening I turned off the TV and asked my wife about the meaning of life. She spent that night at her mother's. I began to think on the job. I knew that thinking and employment don't mix, but I couldn't help myself. I began to avoid friends at lunchtime so I could read Thoreau, Muir, Confucius and Kafka. I would return to the office dazed and confused, asking, "What is it exactly we are doing here?" One day the boss called me in. He said, "Listen, I like you, and it hurts me to say this, but your thinking has become a real problem. If you don't stop thinking on the job, you'll have to find another job. "This gave me a lot to think about. I came home early after my conversation with the boss. "Honey," I confessed, "I've been thinking..." "I know you've been thinking," she said, "and I want a divorce!" "But honey, surely it's not that serious." "It is serious," she said, lower lip aquiver. "You think as much as much as professors and college professors don't make any money, so if you keep on thinking, we won't have any money!" "That's a faulty syllogism," I said impatiently. She exploded in tears of rage and frustration, but I was in no mood to deal with the emotional drama. "I'm going to the library," I snarled as I stomped out the door.
I headed for the library, in the mood for some Descartes. I roared into the parking lot and ran up to the big glass doors. They didn't open. The library was closed.
To this day, I believe that a Higher Power was looking out for me that night. Leaning on the unfeeling glass, whimpering for Pascal , a poster caught my eye:
"Friend, is heavy thinking ruining your life?" it asked.
You probably recognize that line. It comes from the standard Thinkers Anonymous poster. This is why I am what I am today: a recovering thinker. I never miss a TA meeting. At each meeting we watch a non-educational video; last week it was "Porky's." Then we share experiences about how we avoided thinking since the last meeting. I still have my job, and things are a lot better at home. Life just seemed...easier, somehow, as soon as I stopped thinking. I think the road to recovery is nearly complete for me.
Today I took the final step... I joined the Democratic Party. | | |
