I live near the St. Lawrence River and since I have no experience and have not yet purchased a Hobie, whether it is a good river for this. I do not see many Hobies in this area whatsoever.
Hobie bound!

Where exactly are you located on the river? The river is great sailing in places and difficult in others. But there also is a very lively catamaran racing contingent on the river.

I have my Tri in Clayton. US side about a mile from the Wolfe Is. Cut. Sailing is great in that area. Nice access to the 1000 Is. for cruisin' It gets a bit narrow as you go down river, but you can manage that. Watch the current, though.
Finding a place to launch is a bit tricky.

Hey Rick...you left out my Dad...Geoff Dobbs...he was co-runnig Sailcraft with Mr. Perry. Factory was in Ile Perrot island. Lots of childhood memories running around the factory and sailing T's out of Ile Perrot Yacht Club. Other clubs in the vicinity: Beaconsfield, Lord Reading, Pointe Claire.

Geoff Perry once build Tornado in Montreal area and the class had several regattas on the river in that area. It was OK for sailing.
