Hi all. Newbie to cat sailing, but about a year tri sailing. Picked up a NACRA 6.0 Express. I have a giant chute and picked up a tiny I20 chute to use on the boat. Rigged a snuffer on the pole. Single pull halyard, tack, and snuff line. Any recomendations on what type of line to use for this purpose? I was thinking Dyneema(?) or possibly even Conception(?). Color is not important. Stretch #1, long lasting flexibilty / UV "proof" #2, easy on hands #3. Assuming 3/16" size or metric equivilent. While we are at it , tapered mainsheet recomendations as well please.

Thanks to all for ideas.

Craig

Spin halyard- if you are going 3/16 look at spyder line. Taperable low/non stretch. Warpspeed 1/4 would work also. Could also do apex 3/16 but a little stretchier than the other options. Some of the other new england rope products would work also.
Mainsheet- I really like the Marlow D2 I use (and did two other boats with the same) but I don't think they make it anymore. Warpspeed or endurabraid would work also. 5/16 at least. Both are taperable. I would stay away from vectran core stuff if you are going to taper it.

Hey, what's all this racket I hear about "Spectra Plasma"? I saw some on History Channel's "Modern Marvels". Says it's 150% STRONGER than Spectra because they do something after they wind the strand.

Any of this on the market for sport boats? Only stuff I saw on the show was for tugboats (and a nice 1.5 MILLION pounds break strength)...

Yeah, it looked like they melted all the fibers together using super heated gas.... that would be plasma I guess.

I can't be sure about that but it looked pretty cool.

Once you go cat you never go back! Nacra 5.2 (Elsies)#1499, running an inter17 spin!
