Got the new spin pole and snuffer hoop from Hobie. Came with no instructions! Its a mid-pole system and I don't know where to mount the hoop. Think it goes on port side of pole but how far from the end of the pole should it be mounted? Have a race this weekend and must finish install tonight. Thanks for any and all help!

My sailing guru Trey Brown got me straight this am. The length of the sock and where the bridles are determines where to install the hoop. He also suggested the hoop not be at 90 degrees to the pole but angled or canted toward the bridle tang. Mounted on port side. Line attached to pole, thru slot in hoop and tied to bridle tang to support hoop and prevent tangle with sheet lines. Anyone got more to add?

Be careful with pre bend. Tighten main and jib BEFORE you tighen pole. Are you may get this.

Jib tension has no effect on this boat. Rig must be tight to attach spin pole, always. Would never try to prebend the pole with the rig loose

Jib trouble I was having was the halyard was pulling out of plastic cleat when I sheeted in main and jib would come down about a foot. I had to put a bowline in it and sheet main tight, THEN tighten jib halyard. Then put the pre bend it. Going to use Schedule 40 PVC to replace pole. Little thicker wall and cheap.
