Related to this thread, I would be willing to pay for an advertisement in the classified section if there was a chance of finding some slightly used gear for kids (and my wife). I want to get my kids (and wife) fitted with nice wetsuits and splash tops but my budget wont allow me to drop lots of money (especially as they will outgrow the stuff in one or two seasons). With all my kids other activities, I seem to be spending more and more money on their activities (dance, backpacking, biking) and sailing seems to get squeezed out of the budget. In any event, they outgrow all their equipment and it hangs in my garage before I donate the equipment to charity.
What do ya'll think, is there lots of good quality gear hanging in your closest because you or your kids outgrew them or you found a better fitting splash top?

My wife has noticed some kids wetsuits at the charity places she hits once in a while. Goodwill, Catholic Charities, etc. Here in Orlando it would be more common than most other places, though.
What about limiting activities to include the boat during a season? Parents seem compelled to provide and fund an incredible amount of extracurricular activities these days. I'm always astonished at my sisters' kids schedules. I can't quite figure out when they sleep.
clarification of my question

Is there soft goods or other sailing gear that is of no use to you that others may be willing to purchase? If not, that is fine and we can all contact our favorite dealer and buy the stuff new. My inquiry was simply to determine whether it was worth anyone's time to seek out high quality preowned gear or just get new gear. I personally have no interest in going to garage sales to find this stuff but I do have an interest in finding used equipment over the Internet (heck, that is how I found my boat, and my last car, and my last vacation condo…). As stated by Jon Robertson (jonr), could these transactions be facilitated by this website.

My experience: a new set of all the seals for my Gul Hydrolock cost over a hundred bux at Murrays. A sailing buddy sez he sent his drysuit back to the manufacturer for a total of 50 bux including shipping both ways.
Anyone else got experience on this one?
PS; Now I'm religious on the sealsaver stuff!

Stohlquist can no longer get waist gasket seals for the drysuits I have... and I would not recommend using them without replacement because a water filled suit is life threatening. My suits are no longer for sale.
