Does anyone have a good standard set of sailing instructions for a catamaran regatta? Something I can build from. If so, please email them to me at tbshannon[at]charter.net

It is almost embarassing that I do not already have them....

Not racing rules, individual sailing instructions for a regatta.

Yachting Australia Standard Documents

Surely the US sailing organisation has something similar.

Rick WHite's Book "catamaran racing for the 90's" is good.

Once you go cat you never go back! Nacra 5.2 (Elsies)#1499, running an inter17 spin!

Gree I am sure he is talking about the actual Race Sailing Instructions which are instructions on how the race is going to be run, courses and how to expect any changes.

I dont think he meant on how to actually sail instructions.

LOL

Hi Tom
In recent years I have had the chance to organise a couple of Club events plus the F16's Nations Cup for the Past 2 years and an A-Class Nationals. When I first started looking into NOR's and SI's I was amazed at the number of different Formats. But what was more astonishing was the difference in the amount of information, details and rules required by each of the various SI's commonly found on the internet. For instance the RYA's standard SI's seem endless and I for one would give up reading them after the first 5 minutes. Therefore, I plagiarized the SI's from a New Zealand Regatta which I found surfing the Net. Basically they are short, easy to understand and IMO give the right amount of information required to run a successful event. I will email you a copy for you to have a look at. I think the SI's can set the feel for an event so getting the right balance is very important, too short and not enough detail can lead to problems and vice versa you don't want to tie yourself down in red tape. (Goodluck)

Exactly. I was looking for some good templates to derive a short, concise - but informational - set of SIs. I've seen some really good ones and some really bad ones.

If you have them, please send them in.
