Posts: 531 Lake Murray SC | Hi, everyone! My father picked up a well used 5.7 with a broken mast quite a few years ago and after repairs we started sailing in SC. After years of E-Scow and then Hobie 16 racing, we were impressed with the speed and stability of this design. We entered the Outback Regatta at Columbia Sail Club last weekend and sailed against other cats under Portsmouth handicap. The sails are still original and not in the best shape and there is no trapeze on the boat. This was our first regatta together in almost 20 years. I am proud to say that my 74 year old father and I won over 11 newer boats: Hobie 18's, Hobie 20's, a Nacra 5.2 and some very well sailed Trac 16's (and we owed those guys lot of time.) Yes, it was a drifter that catered to his knowledge of the lake and boat handling. http://columbiasailingclub.org/lmyra/index.htm?../lmyra/outback/index.htmWhere can we find used sails and trap hardware? We have very little money to put into this but would love to continue racing and maybe even winning. Any and all comments welcome! Jim.

Posts: 531 Lake Murray SC | It was great talking to you on the course last weekend. Hope to see you at some more EMSA events. Congrats on the win and good luck working on the G Cat. Thanks. I hope we can get to quite a few races. I also like that open Portsmouth class means we can add wings or a spinnaker if we like and no one pitches fit (unlike the PHRF keelboat crowd.)
