I saw the old advertising flyers posted here and see that the pics show either the 5.0 or 5.7 jib tacked to the front crossbar. Our 5.7 is setup with a downhaul and the tack is a good 5-7" above the crossbar. No idea if it is original to the boat. Are we giving away sail area vs. stock sails?

Jim.

Would love to. Please PM more info. Dad is in Gilbert, next to Shull Island. Maybe next weekend? We found that an E-scow jib is just a tiny bit long, so it would fit w/ minor trimming and fit like the ad. Also have a spare roller furler from a H14 Turbo.

the original jib connected to the front crossbar. i can't imagine a clean system that would allow roller furling without eliminating the bridle wire that takes the load of the forestay.
i used to race gcats for the factory and pretty much everyone that gets beaten by one goes into denial about how good and fast gcats are.
now that cats have spinakers the downwind superiority of gcats is prolly gone, but before the spi. gcats could bring the apparent wind forward and still bear way off much better than the other cats whilst tacking downwind.

they shortened the bridle, its probably 2 inches off the front beam.

Thanks, JR. Just the confirmation I was looking for.

Looks like we may save the roller furler for a hooter next year. And we will work on the retrofit of the jib. Since we are a bit heavy in total crew weight, this should be a nice improvement.
