Many of us (self included at times) have this "death and doom" attitude about sailing. Guess what! According to Lattitudes and Attitudes, sailing ranked #5 in growth (9.9% participation increase) of sports (National Sporting Goods Association). Wow, I feel kind of dumb about bitching so much ;-)

Are sailing clubs growing at the same rate that sailing is growing?

Sorry...you'll have to get a copy of the study.

For what its worth, Hobie Div 11 (Mid Atlantic) saw about 7% increase in turnout this year.

WRCRA (near Annapolis) has gone from 9 members in 2000 to 12 in 2001 and then to 25 in 2002. Fleet beer procurement is keeping the economy of Gailsville going strong.

Still hazey after all these beers.
