I'm using 3/8" Yale Ultra Lite on my H-17 and am very happy with it. This line is very light and will not absorb water...Dan

I always liked trophy braid. It absorbs water, but its a lot easier on your hands. And inexpensive.

Here's a great page for splicing instructions. End-to-end, eye, constant diameter, etc etc. It's put up by New England Ropes, which I gather are not considered to be "top shelf" lines, but it's exactly what you need it you're considering small in the blocks but large in your hand mainsheet construction.

Ultra Yale Light is quite good...just make sure that you put it in the washer first and rough it up abit. If you don't it will slip right out of your hands the first time it gets wet.
