I spent the weekend in lovely Virginia Beach, Virginia this past weekend and got to meet some of the names from this and other websites including Rick White, Steve Cooley, a bunch of racers from last years race.
A record 35 teams are expected and 30 teams have already sent in their $5,000 non refundable deposit. There are more first time racers this year than there were competitors last year! (Well, almost.) The seminar featured a great **** party Friday night. A nine hour seminar meeting Saturday and a three hour boat hands on review on Sunday. The F-18HT is a wild boat. The mast is an insane 33.8 feet long and the bows are tiny. At 280 lb. all up the boat is really powered up which is good for what is dominantly a light wind race.
Beautiful weather, a great hotel and a friendly town all made this a trip that was on the "MUST DO" list for those of you looking toward racing next year.
