McCrae Y.C. Mornington Peninsu...
Picked it up this morning with a view to parts.

Had a better idea. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Gave it to one of the young lads at my club as a summer project. Think he's still smiling. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Its as old as me <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />I reckon and equipped to "original specs", but no older than his paper tiger I suspect. Just needs the enthusuasim of youth and a "lot" of hours. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

So thats 2 at McCrae... only 13 to go to catch up to the swarm over the hill at somers. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Cheers

Yes Ben.. that was part of the deal. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

He spends nearly every spare moment he has on the water so I'll have to watch him. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

When I got it home, I thought the dollar value of the usable fittings was worth much less than maybe encouraging a youngster who has shown interest in my boat. And at the price, if it turns out to be too far gone, no harm done.

Cheers

Way to go Simon. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Kudos to you. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Let him know about the forum, to help in keeping his enthusiasm up during those dark days when you think you'll never get the boat on the water.

Have we all had those days or is it just me being impatient?

Hope quite a few Mozzie Sailors get the McCrae at the beginning of November for you and your protege to race and meet. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Yes Col,

I Hope there's a good turn out of Mozzies.

If I am the sole representative if the class, it will not be good advertising. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> I planned to do a lot of sailing over winter to get up to speed but sadly other things got in the way and I only got out 4 times, mostly quiet winds. I've had the girl for 6 months now and only used the wire in anger once, <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> so bring on the season I say. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Don't think so Bandit. Aussiecat's Boat is a mid 90's boat which means it should have a sail number around the 13## - 17## and not 275.

Also Simon said the boat was about the same age as him. Simon might be happy to know he's between 7 and 17 years old. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Simon,

Great effort to you on behalf of the association. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Fantastic to have another Mozzie at McCrae. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hope he loves his new acquisition.

To help keep the register up to date, who was giving it away, who is the new owner and what is the boats name ? Any info would be appreciated.

Regards,

Peter

Peter,

New owner is Rob Collins,

The guy I got it from was Adam ? in Geelong. Don't think he sailed it as he was in the process of bringing it back to a seaworthy state when he decided to let it go. He was given it by someone else? It used the be called "Cheeta" but has had the name removed. I suspect it has been sitting in someones shed for a very loooo....ong time. Had to have the beams put back on for me to trailer it.

Cheers

calvin i hope to be there this year for the cat championships, might be the first time the new boat 1808 sees salt water, have been having fun at sugar loaf, chasing around the faster cats, think i might have to join there club 3 mossies sailing weekly. could build up into a good inland home for mossies central for a lot of mossie sailors out there.

I shall look forward to seeing your good self and the new boat.

Sugarloaf is a good spot. I went over over once , late August for sail, wanted to do a few more, but got busy.

A very friendly place to sail.

It's about 1.5 hrs drive for me but if they have water, they're the best game in town during winter, with sailing right thru.

My first experience, signing in at the park entrance. I said to the guy in the car behind, "It's my first time here, what's the go?"

He looked at my boat, and said. "Only 2 things you need to kmow round here mate! Watch out for Roos on the way out tonight, and dont run over any Sabres!" <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
