I made up this hinge today, looks as though it should do the job, I didn't make the cone or socket though.

I've also made the mast base myself, although its still a work in progress, I think I'm on the Mk 4 version.

Will have a go at the spreader brackets, sail top hook and gooseneck tomorrow.

Regards

Looks good.
I am in the process of building an A-Cat and
am looking around for parts. I built a goose neck
bracket for on the mast out of carbon and will
be making the spreaders and other small parts as well.
My question is where do you find the pivot for the mast step. I was thinking of using an old NACRA Teflon
ball as I have made the mast base out of carbon and
plywood in the past but would be willing to move to a
modern setup if I could find the parts.

You know, a small piece on how you did the maststep with carbon and ply would be interesting in itself.. Perhaps you can do a small writeup?

Marstrom have some nice parts, i.e.: http://www.marstrom.com/item_show.asp?code_no=T118
http://www.marstrom.com/item_show.asp?code_no=T401

If you look at his ball, you see that it is not much more than a bolt with a ball welded on top.
I think I would want steel on steel for the maststep?

The Delrin ball is available from Murrays. I had a ss bolt welded to a curved ss plate, has worked well for my 24' cat with a 36' wing mast.
