The last few times me and my girlfriend started to trap with the kite on. We have a Blade 2007 and our spi line is rather short to trap. I have made it a bit longer but now the line is quite long on the tramp when the kite is in the snuffer.

Anyone with a Blade who knows how long their line is? And anyone who knows a good way to 'stow' the line when the kite is in the snufferbag? I have seen some things with bungee cords but I don't really know how to do it.

Regards,
Gill

Gill, are you talking about spi sheet or halyard length. At a guess because you mention trapezing you are after the optimum sheet length.
About a year ago Gary (twice bitten/ altered/ Aus formula Blade/ whoever?) posted an excellent photo of a line from the tack of his kite approx 1000mm long with a loop which the downhaul line passed through prior to he first spi patch. So when you doused the kite the spi sheets were pulled into the snuffer very quickly preventing running over them whilst at the same time taking up excessive spi sheets on the tramp. I have always meant to try this but to date have never actually got round to doing it. Maybe somebody will re-post this image as it is quite hard to explain, picture.

Mark,

I was indeed talking about the spin sheet.
If anyone has a picture of the principle Mark is talking about, feel free to post it!

Gill

Looks nice!
Doesn't the line mess up when retrieving ang hoisting again and does the retriever line need to be longer?

Regards,
Gill

The retriever line would need to be slightly longer but it's best to try it first - I found mine was long enough anyway.

It doesn't snag - in fact the whole point is to simulate the kind of snag where the sheet gets pulled into the sock with the patches. This is what happened to me once and I ended up with no sheets lying on the deck and I thought "I want this to happen every time".

All you have to do is experiment on land with the length of that piece of bungee until the sheet all neatly disappears into the chute.

I'll try it this weekend!
I suppose you attach the ring between the first and second patch?

Gill

No, I bet that it is below all the patches. The retriever line comes from the snuffer through the ring to the patch.

That's right.
