Yea I have too. Staying with daughter. In between jobs and if Son in law gets this job the lease is up in Dec. Say your prayers for me, I want the Tampa or Jacksonville, Fla job. Come sown and sail with us Sat. I will still come by for Wayward Winds, even if I move. I will miss all you guys and the BEST sailing place in US for ease of sailing (Texas City Dike).

Doug,

If you wind up in Longview, then welcome to East Texas....or NE Texas more specifically. I live in Lindale which is about 40 minutes west. I sail the area lakes near home (Lake Tyler, Lake Palestine) and never see any cats. Just the occasional monoslug. It would be nice to get together sometime seeing as how I am new. I think you are an old hand (not age-wise but experience-wise ) at this and I know I could certainly learn a thing or two or three from you. At any rate, good luck in your move. Hope you get what you want.

In Shreveport there are some H16 sailors, 1 TheMightyHobie18, and a nacara 5.8 sailor who is now commodore there now. The webmaster for their site (shreveyacht.com) is a good friend of mine and a die hard h16 sailor, Gary Montcalm. They have a floating ramp to launch from and a nice grassy are to store the boats. Was part of the club for 6 years and the people there are great. Even talking of getting the Buzzard Island cat regatta back. The lake is like most inland lakes, brown, shify wind, and has its share of jet skis in the summer. But in the fall and winter when the wind is blowing you will often have the lake to yourself, or at least only sailboats, and often only cats.

Also I think there is a guy in tyler (rob) who has a tipain 4.9, and in little rock kirt simmons has a tipain, a cat, and bunch of other cats.

hope this helps. While it is not south texas it is not the end of the world.

Well said, Jody. You bringing that Blade to Cat Caper? There should be quite a few F16s there. I'm about 70% right now. Would be cool if we both make it...been a long time.

Hi Jerome:

What do you folks do in the winter? Can you sail or do you have to pack it all away for a time?

He damn well better be; we are counting on him! 5 F16s, potentially 7.

We need you, too. Bring the whole group. At least one H16 from Jackson is already committed to be there. A local H16 guy that is pretty good will be there. Build the fleet!!!

Dinner Friday night is provided, but did not make the flyer.

I will be there with the blade. Jerome I hope you all come over, would be great to see you again.
Pete, we still sail during the winter. Just add some wetsuit or dry suit. the water does not usually freeze. Maybe a few weeks out of the year are so dang cold that sailing is painful (but if the wind is blowing it is worth it). Unlike Detroit where I was last year, damn hard to sail regular boat with the water solid, which this southern sailor did not like at all.

Gang:

Where and when is Cat Caper. I will be in Winnsboro, about 1 hour northwest of Longview. What do i do about winterizing the 4.3. Never had to deal with a boat outside in freezing weather or snow.

Doug, Does this mean you are moving to Winnsboro? Your are getting mighty close to my home turf. Grew up in Quitman, currently reside in Lindale. We should sail sometime.

Too much of a noob to help you with your freezing question. Do you really think its that much colder up here? Sometimes it is. Ha!

There is a 90% chance I am moving to Winnsboro. Son in law already working in Longview. I want to go to Jacksonville for the new office there, but they have to find a place for me. Where do you sail up there? I will be bring this. Call me sometime or give me cell. I am hoping to get back on with Acuren (use to work for them) or High Tech when things pick back up in Feb, I will get a job doing whatever till then,

I have 27 years at this. Yea it would be nice to get out if not to cold. I have a fleece undersuit and Hobie spraysuit. I will be moving up there around Nov 26. Give me a call sometime. Will be good to have sailing bud and maybe you can show me some of the area lakes?

Walter,

I have a place on Richland Chambers and keep a H-18 in my garage there. How far is Corsicana from your place ?

I usually go to Lake Tyler or Lake Palestine. Palestine is the largest nearby lake. Only bad part is SH 155 splits it in half and the bridges are too low to pass under.

Stephen, I am about 1 1/2 hours from Corsicana. I am about 10 minutes north of Tyler. Is RC a good lake to sail. Honestly, I have never seen that lake. It is fairly large I believe.
