Open Regatta this coming weekend. Saw 6-7 possible cats a few weeks ago. Who's going? Won't be roasting hot like the Outback!

We went out last Sunday, got very wet and broke stuff in the 15+ breeze. Big Fun! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Race cheap, race faster, Damnit!

Oh, I was hoping midlands might mean it was in the midwest. I would have come if it was within a 5 hour drive.

Forecast looks like wind in the teens this weekend! Let's see if that holds.

You guys have fun. I'll be doing the Lake Jordan race in Raleigh. It'll be nice to not to have to drive 4+ hours for a change. I'm sure I'll be in Columbia next spring for Tommy Whiteside.

I hope we'll be able to gain some interest from the sailors in our area. As you know, the Raleigh, Greensboro, Atlantic Beach, and Wrightsville Beach fleets have all defunct in the past 10 years. It would be nice to maybe organize a group again to maybe add another regatta to our schedule in the future.

Mark, What are the chances of rekindling the Carolina Beach regatta, that was fun, but I know parking and access is difficult.

Count me in for a Carolina Beach regatta. I'm tired of driving 5+ hours inland for no wind.

The Blades of Chattanooga won't be able to join you this time. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
Hope the wind/weather gods smile on you as they did us at Cat Capers!

Parking is the main hurdle. I think David and Renee said they paid about $1500 for the city lot that we were using. The City of Carolina Beach used to be very receptive to allowing trailers and vehicle access on the beach, but that was several years ago. That beach has grown and changed a lot in the past 10 years.
I think our best opportunity for a NC beach regatta would maybe tieing in with a hotel in the fall (offseason) at a smaller beach. I've always thought Ocean Isle may be a good spot since the be beach there runs east/west and ocean stays pretty flat even when it blows.
I've also spoke with some of the members of the Lake Waccamaw Sailing Club. They may be willing to host at their site. Even though it is not beach, it's close enough to the coast that they seam to always get a good breeze.

Ocean Isle is a good location but I don't think there is camping nearby. Atlantic Beach, SC might be good as well, the entire beachfront has not been developed. The area won't exist much longer as I understand. Those of you that attended the North-South Catdash would remember Atlantic beach. The south end of Myrtle is good as well. Even a race out of Georgetown, off the cat islands would be awesome. Anything involving salt water and wind is good! What about the Crystal coast area?
