What do you do with a hangover, 5mph winds predicted for tomorrows race, the family have gone out and a couple of spare T Foils? I forgot to mention a hacksaw, sand paper, marine filler and a can of spray!!

Noooo, you are not removing the foils? What if there is motorboat chop or something? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hope you can post a report on the difference between sailing without T-foils as compared to with T-foils in the light stuff

He already did that a while ago didn't you Mark. Your previous stealth "Little Feat" wasn't equipped with T-foils right ? While your new Stealth is.

I know Mark trashed at least one foil at the Nations Cup ayt Mumbles last year.

Maybe it's this one, plus one other.

Here's a shot of the conditions taken yesterday, half tide. It's not looking that promising for racing. Although, it is a nice autumnal photo of the front at Mumbles.

Hi Rolf
The conditions were as forcasted, light 5mph winds from the South. The sea state was fairly flat behind the headland with a small swell running out at the pier where the windward mark was layed. If I had known this prior to the start I would have put the T foils on. The bows were really starting to bounce around from half way up the beats around the mark to the first gybe. After that I was running with the waves and everything settled down and the boat went along quite smoothly. Although I won the race beating two F18's another F16 and three Dart 18's I would have prefferred to sail with the T foils as it felt I was loosing a lot of momentum on what turned out to be quite a bouncy ride at times. The next time I use the normal rudders will be in light winds from a more westerly direction so the bay wont be affected by the swells. Still I'm happy with experiment as I had forgotten what it was like to sail without T foils and given any reasonable wind or waves I definitely wouldn't be without them.
