After a convincing win last weekend going around ANACAPA ISLAND the AFTERBURNER race crew is now focusing on the Santa Barbara to King Harbor race record.

The annual race takes place next weekend and if last year is any example the winds can top 30 knots and wreak havoc on the fleet. A Roland 36 flipped last year with Tom Rolland himself aboard. A monohull PENDRAGON 4 (which I was lucky enough to be aboard) broke the overall race record with a time of just over 7 hours for the 85 mile course.

With any luck we hope to better that record this year aboard AFTERBURNER. (http://www.sailingproshop.com/afterburner4.htm)

Stay tuned for a race synopsis Friday evening August 3rd if I am REALLY lucky and get to break the record two years in row....

we hope to see many of you there!

Afterburner did set a Milt Ingram record by ~15 minutes, and was fastest to finish by 55 min (a H20 in the beach cat class was next), but she did not "win" the ORCA class, placing second to a Reynolds 21 on corrected time.
