GYA Multihull Championship

J. R. Lundquist Regatta

November 2 & 3, 2002

ORGANIZING AUTHORITY

The regatta is organized under the authority of Pensacola Yacht Club and will be sailed under the management of its Race Committee.

RULES

The regatta will be governed by the Rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2001-2004, the prescriptions of U.S.Sailing, class rules, and the Gulf Yachting Association Regulations for Sanctioned Events, except as any of these are changed by the Sailing Instructions, and by the Sailing Instructions.

Advertising - The regatta is designated Category A..

ELIGIBILITY

Boats may enter by completing the Registration Form and paying the required fee..

FEES AND REGISTRATION

Cost for USSailing members entering for the series is $35. Cost for non-USSailing members entering for the series is $40.00 Local and Florida Sales Taxes are not included. Checks must be made payable to Pensacola Yacht Club - PO Box 989 - Pensacola, Florida 32595. Entries can also be paid via valid PYC club charge or Master Charge/VISA. No American Express charges will be accepted.

CLASSES and Awards

Five (5) boats are required to create a separate one-design class otherwise boats will be grouped into spinnaker and non-spinnaker Portsmouth classes.

GYA MULTIHULL CHAMPIONSHIP. Championship competition limited to one three boat team from member clubs only. Eligibility requirements: Each team boat shall be in compliance with its Class specifications and be of a design listed by the Multihull Council of the US SAILING Association. A team shall be represented by at least two (2) different ,boats meeting the eligibility requirements. Skippers, who shall be members of the club entering a team, and Crews (preferably from GYA clubs) shall be the same throughout the five-race series. A minimum of five boats meeting the same eligibility requirements are necessary to establish a class. The host club shall determine the classes to be established and may establish an open class, in which case the current Portsmouth Handicap numbers for Multihulls shall be used for scoring.

The club with the lowest team score is presented the GYA MULTIHULL CHAMPIONSHIP PERPETUAL TROPHY provided by Commodore Lewis B. Pollack, Sr. The winning club hosts the event the following year, and provides marker trophies. Entry fees may be charged. The JIM TUCKER PERPETUAL TROPHY, provided by Jim Tucker, is presented to the GYA boat that is first in fleet overall. The current Portsmouth Handicap numbers for Multihulls shall be used to determine the winner.

Note: GYA and non-GYA club members may participate on an individual basis; however, only the former are eligible to compete for the Jim Tucker Trophy. Both may be eligible for other awards provided by the host club.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The Sailing Instructions will be available at the Pensacola Yacht Club during Registration.

SCORING

The Low-Point Scoring System, Appendix A2 of the RRS, will apply. Three races will be required for the series to be recognized as the GYA Championship.

EVENT SCHEDULE

The Race Committee may conduct multiple races in any of the two days of the series. No Races will be started after 1300 on Sunday.

Big air forcast for this regatta (15-20) - I am racing for the Pensacola Beach Yacht Club team on a Mystere 4.3. I don't like to single-hand in more than 12, so I'd like to find a willing soul for a two-day ride on a spinnaker boat. This boat eats up big air, so it should be a real hoot.
