When I was in Birmingham we discussed establishing an "F16" events calendar- ie. a list of events the local F16 owners would agree to attend. The object of this would be to have multiple boats at an event rather than one or two at several scattered events. All agreed it was a good idea-
SO-
Let's do it!
Suggest we have some "regions" and select events in those regions then make them public and drag/shame/entice/cajole/etc. as many F16'ers as we can to come and sail/race.
Suggestions for regions?
A start-
Florida- May want to even "divide" into South/Central/North or just North/South??
Southwest- ie TX/OK/LA/AR/TN?AL?MS? May want to divide these into 2??
West- CA/OR/WA
East- GA-MD
North- Canada/MI/WI/IL/etc.

Suggest we get the regions then each region start a thread with "suggested" events/dates and come to a consensus-

Kirt

Kirt, I'd be happy to organize something up here. I presume you have a listing of all the US association members. Is there any problem in making that public in order to facilitate the cajoling you're proposing? (Actually something along the lines of the NZ A-class contact list would be helpful). Up here I'm aware of three boats in IL and one in MI. It would be good to know who else might be in the vicinity.

Would people be willing to travel to Texas? What about races at the Texas City Dike? Quite an active catamaran fleet there and a great group of people? Are we talking about distance or buoy racing (or both)?

Bob:

How are things going? Was nice to finally meet face to face. Well I got the job in Fla. In Fort Polk, La thru the Holidays then off to Jacksonville after first of year Yea there is already Asim Saber that raced a Blade with us. He did good with son, just using chute, as 8 year old couldn't handle it. Yea Dike is one of the best places in the US to sail. Usually good wind and flat water.

Doug;
What events at the Dike would you suggest could be added to a F16 calender? I am not familiar with the regattas at the Dike. Also, can you camp on the beach or what do sailors do when the event spans two days (those that don't live near)?

Good luck in Florida. Another state with no income tax

Bob:

Wayward Winds is the only regatta at the dike. Rest or just fun races. Usually in June. But watch the site and catsailor under the South division. Great regatta and usually good wind and flat water. Guys would love it AND as you said REAL good and friendly group. AND is doesn't cost for beach access.
