Over the last few years, my wife and I have fell in love with the Gulf coast of Florida and it seems like a perfect place to sail our Hobie 18 magnum. The problem is, we almost never see any beachcats around unless they are deserted, disintegrating boats. Why is that? Does anyone know of an area where we can rent a spot to leave our mast up, then rent a condo in the area for about a month?

Check out Gulfport Yacht Club. Catamaran club, mostly. Has mast up storage and a part year membership deal.
Between St. Petersburg and the Gulf Beaches.

Just looked it up and it looks really interesting. I sent them an email and I'll let you know how I do. Thanks for the lead.

A private message, it should be a small blinking envelope to the right of your name

Check out our area, Pensacola Beach. Lots of condos on the west end with nice Beaches and easy access. The access is hurting everyone along the coast after the storms of 04 and 05. The beach renourishment projects have almost made launching in the gulf impossible with the dune rebuilding and sea oat planting.
Contact me if you want any further info for Pen. Beach.

Also try Davis Island Yacht Club in Tampa. Not technically on the Gulf Coast, but a good club with great access to Tampa Bay. Don't ask why I know this, but it's near the hospital (Tampa General?)...

Hope this helps.

Dunedin Causeway, you can't have mast up storage on the causway but you can leave it up for the weekend. If you like to camp the islands off of the causway are available.

Hope this helps.
