Matt,
I would not get too bent out of shape over the lack off bands as they will all have them in place by the nationals....or guessing no racing.

If you were sailing for sheep stations they have left themselves open to a friendly, or not so friendly protest...basically their boats don't measure.

Put the bands on and enjoy the Nationals...

matt i agree with david. if it bothers you, i would go and politely "suggest" that they put the black bands on so that everything is above water, please pardon the pun. i would have hoped that the nsw states committee would have had that sorted if they had let them in to the state titles. world champs have been won and lost on less.

Matt,

I guess you are just the black band sheep. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I suppose if all the club Mozzies decided to go to the nationals then you would probably see a flurry of activity with black permanent markers. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Maybe you should protest everyone out of club racing too. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

The new boats would not have been measured yet. This will happen whenever the owners organise to get them measured - something they really shouldn't delay. The numbers are issued before the boat is built - they are not dependent on registration.

The older boats without bands either have never been raced at a state or national level and never measured or (more likely) the mast and/or boom have been replaced and the owner has been too slack to paint them on.

All boats at the national titles will have their bands measured. At the states it is at the discretion of the measurer.

Note that the band at the top of the mast is optional. If it's not there then the top of the mast is the limit.
