Headed down to Portland today, after finally getting some time away from work (harvest started) to launch my new taipan.

When I arrived the water looked good, the wind perfect. Started unloading and it started pouring rain, it came across so fast I couldn't believe it, and with the rain, came the wind, official reading was 26, gusting 32 knots, needless to say I loaded everything back up, hung around the club for a little while and headed home (4 hours driving there and back) so not the ideal start you might say. So although a little disappointed, I can at least say it has seen the water.

Try again next time.

Dont you just love sailing? Better luck next time. A 4 hours drive there and back? Lesser men would already have given up just thinking about it.

I know. Five other Taipans there as well, would have been good.

The lake 10 mins away is covered in grass. So not a lot of options there are some clubs a little closer, but would like to stay in with my mates at Portland, and a fleet of Taipans as well.

For another two hours drive you could have sailed here our wind only got to about 18 with no puffs to speak of, sunny all day and the beer would have been better than Victorian stuff.
