Recent article by USSailing about Paul and Mary Ann Hess being selected for the Pan Am Games (Congradulations!) states "The Hobie 16, a 17 foot catamaran , will make its second appearance at the Pan American Games in 2003."

2003 PAN AM GAMES TEAM

Am I loosing my mind? (It's specification is 16'7" but that's probably not at the waterline).

Perhaps they consider the total lenght including the rudders in their down position??...To the end of the casting. Or maybe its the new math (its close enough)

Its 16 ft. at the waterline. Sounds like a mistake to me.

What I mean't was the the lenght with the rudders down in their normal sailing position, measuring from the tip of the bow to end of the casting. Total over lenght.
